This page explains how VacationSket guides are made, what we check, and where we have got things wrong.
Where the Facts Come From
Official sources first. For a park, that means the National Park Service, the Forest Service or Seattle Parks. For ferries and transit, Washington State Ferries, King County Metro or Sound Transit. For crime figures, Seattle Police Department reporting. For a restaurant or attraction, its own website.
Where a guide cites a figure, a price or a crime statistic, we link the source so you can check it yourself.
What We Will Not Claim
We do not claim visits we have not made. Our guides are researched, not written from personal travel, and where older versions of these pages implied otherwise, that was wrong and we are correcting it.
We do not make claims about a neighbourhood’s safety without citing the data behind them.
How We Use AI Tools
We use AI writing tools to draft and edit. That is worth stating plainly rather than burying, because it is the single biggest risk to accuracy on a site like this: these tools produce fluent text that can contain invented businesses, invented prices and invented distances.
Earlier versions of several guides on this site contained exactly those errors — restaurants that had closed years before, trails described as far easier than they are. We are working through the archive correcting them.
Corrections in Progress
As of October 2026 we are reviewing every guide on this site against primary sources. Pages that cannot be verified are being rewritten or merged. Where a correction has been made, the guide’s update date reflects it.
Leaving wrong information published is worse than having fewer pages.
Independence
Nobody pays to be included. We have no affiliate relationships with any business named on this site. We have applied to show Google advertising; at the time of writing the site does not carry ads.
Tell Us When We Are Wrong
Spotted an error, a closed business or an outdated price? Use the contact page. We check every report, and confirmed fixes go live with a new update date.
